Mission to Nusa Tenggara Timur Province (NTT)

Honorary Consulate Nico Barito has visited to NTT and conducted series of audiences to Governor of NTT at Kupang and local governments at the regent of Maumere, Larantuka and Ende to observed the modalities of Flores Island and other islands within Nusa Tenggara Timur, to identify the value of its tourism strength and to define holistic relationship in tourism industry development between Flores and Seychelles.
The 5 days mission from July 31 to August 05, 2010 has been productive and both governments have the same opinion that the potential of tourism within the 550 isles of NTT is massive.  Its eco-friendly beach, natural -heritage to religious tourism dedicated to Catholic mission overall may  improve  the local economy if managed and promoted professionally with sound environmental concerned.
The Regent of Larantuka has proposed to designate one group of its island as pilot project for niche tourism development, while Ende Regent is also proposing the same and to allocate its fertile land resource for partnership on organic farming and agro industry with Seychelles.
Consul General Nico Barito has confirmed its intention to further develop the modalities of the collaboration, through capacity building and training programs towards building excellence human resources for the local governments of NTT and its communities, to be able to plan and manage the economy especially the tourism  to communicate and promote globally.  Nico Barito who is also Board of Trustee to Sea Level Rise Foundation at Seychelles has confirmed that the foundation will take lead in delivering the best practices and interactive program
Further, the local government of NTT is considering to outsource its plan to develop and promote  the niche islands resort through the professional stake holders of  Seychelles. Such reciprocal collaboration may boost the existence of more Seychelles managed islands in the far-east.
